Talking to Your Own Guides, Your Angels, Your Coaching Staff
By Psychic Margaret Ruth
Some people call them angels; some call them your guides. I call them your committee. Who are they? They are individual personality energies, some you have met in this life and some you have not, that comprise your personal coaching team and cheerleader squad. You cannot be a physical human without them. And they are there to help you live the best life you can.
What is Truth? A difficult question; but I have solved it for myself by saying that it is what the ‘voice within’ tells you.
-- Mohandas Gandhi (1869–1948)
I have always liked our Western culture way of picturing these helpful guiding energies. We picture these as white robed and winged persons – with glowing halos. In essence, we picture them as the very high vibrational, en- lightened, beings. We call them angels. Other cultures might picture them differently – perhaps like fireflies, like hovering gods or wispy planets.
However you might picture them, it is important to understand, or remind yourself, that everybody has these guides. And Everybody can access them, although many do not. Others would decry these notions as fanciful, superstitious, religious, New Age-y, whatever. Everyone I have ever met has a committee of guides (I call them that because not all my clients are from the West and familiar with our notion of angels). Some people have a room full and some people have 4 or 5. It does not matter how many; it matters if you can sense what your committee is trying to say to you, about you. That is their job – to be very interested in what is going on with you.
If you can hear your guides, you are in a very good position to make good choices in your life. When I do readings, it seems to me that your guides are viewing you not only microscopically – down to your deepest parts, but also from a larger viewpoint, as if they are in a helicopter and have a good idea of the lay of the land before you. There are many payoffs in being able to hear your own inner wisdom and guidance, too many to enumerate here, but perhaps you can get a sense of the value.
Some people block hearing them because they do not believe they exist. Some people think the idea of listening to such voices is frightening: “What if they tell me to do something horrible!!” Some people block hearing their guides because our culture teaches us to rely on authorities in the hierarchy, not our inner selves. So, we are just taught to think others know better than we.
We have all a better guide in ourselves, if we would attend to it, than any other person can be. -- Jane Austen (1775–1817)Allow me explain how to recognize what your own committee might sound like. If you are interested, let me know, and I can write up some more specific details on how some people get more in touch with theirs. But until then, here are some things to know about listening to your guides, or your angels.
□ Guides are very positive; they know that being human is hard and they do not criticize, nag, tell you to do negative things
□ Guides come from a very calm, warm, loving place (a very high vibration) and so they would never say anything mean, harmful, demeaning or destructive.
□ Guides are very consistent- unlike us they are not constantly changing our minds or thoughts
□ Your committee can have people who have passed over on it – often we will recognize the “voice” of our grandmother or father when trying to talk to our guides
□ Your committee talking to you can seem like it is just thoughts or feelings – but if you pay close attention, you might be able to start discerning their vibration from your own mind chatter.
So, for instance, if you are trying to listen for your higher guidance and you hear something that encourages you to harm another person or yourself – That is Not Them. That is a very destructive voice of your own and you will not want to do anything it recommends, by the way.
If you think you are just making it up, or that what you are hearing is just your own thoughts – you are actually getting very close! Just test what you get: Is it positive? Is it loving? Is it consistent? Does it have good ideas for you? If so – run with it! And keep practicing; it will be worth it.

#1 Wonderful post, MR! Thank you
Wonderful post, MR! Thank you for describing this phenomenon so accurately. I refer to the collective committees as Zion - but that's just me. :-) I find that when I follow the suggestions of "the committee" things just seem to work out well, in the grand scheme. My wonderful, joyful, whole marriage relationship is due in large part to me listening to "the committee." My medical care providers finding a cancer that is usually hard to catch quickly is due to my following the committee's advice. Some communities refer to "the community" as "the Spirit," but I find they are talking about the same thing you are - plural or singular doesn't really matter. Anyway, thank you again for publishing this.
